National Gathering

Lutheran Student Movement is putting the “Move” in Movement with this year’s gathering location: Memphis, TN. Get ready for an event that will get you thinking about where you are in life, and where you need to be. From visiting the civil rights museum to life changing speakers, activities and experieces, (plus tons of fun!)  this year’s conference will be one to remember. Our theme this year is A Place at the Table: Who was, is and should be at God’s table. We will be looking at the past, present and future of civil rights, equality and being a good neighbor.

LSM Gathering Q&A

Who can attend?

We welcome all college-aged Christian students, as well as all Lutheran campus pastors and any students involved in their campus ministry, to attend.  While the efforts of the Lutheran Student Movement identify with the Lutheran tradition, you do not have be Lutheran to come to this event.

When and where is the gathering taking place?

The gathering will take place Dec. 29th, 2018- Jan. 1, 2019 in Memphis TN.

The main events are at Living Hope Church 815 N McLean Blvd, Memphis, TN 38107

Check-in for the gathering will take place from noon to 3:00 pm on Dec. 29th, so please try to arrive in that window.  Closing worship for the gathering will take place on Jan 1st, 2019 and we’ll see you off with a sack lunch before you hit the road.

How can I register?

The online registration form  is here. (as well as on the LSM-USA Facebook page – Lutheran Student Movement USA).  Registration will be open through December 1st, 2018.

How much does it cost to attend the gathering?

Registration cost will be $225 per person. Cost covers everything during the gathering except for dinner one night on the town and transportation.  Please make checks payable to “LSM-USA” and send them to Lutheran Campus Ministry 1001 13th Street Boulder, CO 80302 by December 1st, 2018.

What are the workshops?

There will be various workshop session times during which participants will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of topics through guided activities and conversation. Some past topics include The Vinyl Preacher, Praying in Color and Social Advocacy.

How do we get to the gathering?

Where will we be sleeping?

Participants will be housed at the St. George Bunk house (in the basement of where the gathering will be) and other locations downtown Memphis.

What should we bring?

Will we have any free time to explore Memphis?

Yes!  One night, there will be some free time to explore the city and have a meal out on the town.  There will also be scheduled free time throughout the gathering itself.

Will there be any service component at the gathering?

Absolutely!  On the Sunday of our gathering everyone will engage in a service-immersion activity, where we will all be broken up into different groups to go to local churches for their service and to engage in service and fellowship with members of their congregations.

We are looking for students to help with worship and music,  if you are interested please indicate that on your registration form and we’ll get you squared away.
